Writing Prompt:

If you had a million dollars to give away, who would you give it to?

Honestly, having that much money brings problems that I wouldn’t want to have. Yeah it would be nice to think about the things I could do with that kind of money though. I’m fortunate enough to have paid off my student loans, but it did take a while and a torn up ankle to finish the deal.

I do have to admit having a good size chunk of money to give to my church would be nice. Scripture does say to give the Lord 10% of the first fruits of your labor. Next would obviously be my parents being a professional patient due to an unforeseen congenital anomaly hasn’t been easy on them or me. Even with being able to do restricted housework there are still things that have been impossible for me not once but now 4 different times.

I know there are some other worthy ideas and people quite deserving of a chunk of money, but I don’t know all of the ones I would choose to support. It’s a challenging decision to make and I am half Alsman and Bishop getting the best bang for your buck is a phrase I have heard a lot. Plus all of my grandparents lived through parts of the great depression. The stories still live on in my Grandma Betty’s mind at 99 years old. One of her long time memories was to reuse baggies over and over again until it was literally in tatters.

Saving money is a choice and the person has to be disciplined enough to carry it through even with all the lures to easily spend it as soon as possible. However, splurging isn’t all bad once in a while for a good cause or just for pampering yourself.

There’s also another way to think of money. You wouldn’t have the money you have if God hadn’t allowed you to have it in the first place through earning it in a job or through family money. It belongs to the Lord and He should be consulted on all your monetary decisions no matter what the issue.
