Wishing For ESP

Well it happened again, no internet from around noontime to about 5 pm Friday night.

You would think as many times as this has happened I should be able to have some extra sensory perception as to when the next one might happen right! Well maybe not. I try to make myself busy one way or another so I don’t notice. The one big thing I notice is not being able to receive or send messages to Bryan though.

Fortunately though, Selena’s presence seems to have brought the internet back to life. The repercussions we had to agree to may or may not have been worth it however. I had mentioned I was making pizza and on her phone all the kids heard that “p” word apparently. My niece ended up being the oldest of 4 kids and she had one cute little toddler in tow. Our Wi-Fi would end up helping us later when absolutely needed.

Cooking is personal but also fun. I wasn’t sure what the kids were used to eating and I already had the pizza halfway done before I got a text which turned into a FaceTime session with all of them. So when I saw the nearly 1 year old toddler and the oldest boy had both eaten their pizza I was surprised and tickled pink as Grandpa would say. The littlest boy had time with not wanting to eat and I’m not sure if he had a mozzarella stick or not. While his baby sister loved the cheese sticks and wanted his piece of pizza after eating her own.

Friday night was not the night I thought it might be at all. I was actually thinking of two different projects I needed to work on. I have the flag I need to fix so we can get it back up and secondly Grandma’s Birthday Album my Aunt asked me to fix up for her. I still need to cut up some more cutouts, but I have made several pages since Saturday. Especially since Friday night didn’t work out to go through some of the pages.

It’s hard to be mad even with no internet for hours and having 4 kids; 2 boys and 2 girls from the age of 12 and under. The boy that ate his pizza when he was a few years younger head butted me one day. I have never forgotten that day and how that hurt my head and the headache I had afterwards. However, Friday, I got to see this little boy mature quite a bit, even with his ADHD. The dramatic effects on him were amazing; he’s still a pill but not at all like he was.

Yahtzee was on his mind, but his little brother wanted to play with the dice. So we had to figure out how to do both and the little guy was not liking that I was trying to show his big brother the game. He just wanted to play with all of the stuff we needed to use so I could teach the game to the older boy. It was kind of a hard time and yet I could tell what I was getting to the older boy was sticking he was liking the game and the rules I was trying to show him. Finally though the tantrums made playing both ways really hard.

Then I found myself at the piano with both boys again. They didn’t really want me to play they just wanted me to watch them. However, I kept interjecting a little bit when the little guy kept moving around. He could not keep still.

Before we played Yahtzee though, I had a good chunk of time with the cute toddler. She liked the pizza and the cheese sticks and she has really warmed up to me the last few times I have seen her. She is a real cutie patootie! She also reminds me a great deal of her teenage sister who didn’t come over with the group.

Friday evening was a challenging and beautiful night. One where we didn’t need technology to take care of these kids just some one on one time with us. They got to see us put our energy and time into them personally. It’s sad, but I don’t think they really get that like they should. It’s funny how God and His still small voice works… sometimes it means unplugging to hear him or to clear up our schedules.
