I love this photo. My Grandpa’s in conversation with a few other people. Plus my Uncle Horace is in the original photo. Different hotspot though this was at a wedding.
Due to some unforeseen circumstances I ended up driving my Uncle to breakfast and Mom came with us. This is unusual. We normally eat at home, but my Uncle has a different routine. So we are trying to allow him some of his normal settings.
Anyhow I ended up eating with him. We went to Linton and gravitated to where there is always a breakfast group of folks Monday to Friday and sometimes Saturday. It’s fun to see the same men still sitting around and talking noisily about their thoughts.
Even some of our own good friends were already there and Mom was able to speak to them while Uncle Tony and I ate our food and I took my pills. My pesky pills, but without them I might be a mess especially without my allergy pill.
Just the thought though, that these guys are still meeting every day of the week for the most part warms my heart. I remember times when we were farming and had Grandma Rosie with us McDonald’s was our hotspot as well as theirs then. Grandma got her breakfast and then her caffeine fix, her unsweet tea. She would have her unsweet tea for most of the day at least late afternoon.
It was such a daily routine for us I wondered if it would ever change I didn’t see anything altering our routine. So much has changed now it felt weird this morning. Yet nothing had really changed those guys were still there talking to each other about whatever thoughts they had. Immigration, government, family everything that we midwesterners are worried about.
Do you know where your local hotspots are for the local guys? It’s more than just the guys. Women are just as much as part of these conversations? Are you a part of one of these groups or maybe at another time of the day.
I also know of a Subway hotspot due to a boyfriend of an Aunt of mine.
