Movies In Real-Life

It is so hard to not like Kevin Bacon. I grew up with the original Footloose, I loved the music it is such a classic movie for my generation. However, he leans somewhat liberal in this thinking unfortunately.

There is a movie he did in 2009 called, “Taking Chance.” This afternoon while I watched the video clip 15 minutes long most of it in silence brought back this movie for me. It’s one of those shows that are hard to watch without waterworks. Although the difference is today these soldiers were just getting to Dover Delaware, in the movie Kevin’s character volunteers to escort this hero soldier home from Delaware.

Watching this ‘Dignified Transfer’ was so poignant knowing two of them were young women so very, very young. Yet the Honor Guard while I observed their movements were incredibly in-sync the 6 of them carrying each of the caskets plus the one following the casket. It was also refreshing to see the Commander-in-Chief not looking overly distracted this time around. The families of the three soldiers were not seen in the viewpoint of this camera, it’s almost like they wanted it on the Biden’s specifically to see what he may or may not do this time.

It’s not the same, but it’s sort of why I loved the Marching Band so much. Walking in step together. Making turns the little and big steps that it took to make them look smooth. I thoroughly loved marching but I was younger. I couldn’t do it now as easily. The Honor Guard strives to be meticulous in their presentations to show their respect and because it is their duty to do so. Watching the caskets in the vehicle and the last soldier shutting the doors was done in such a slow and steady fashion.

This was all done before Kevin’s character Lt. Colonel Michael Strobl, got to Dover. It took the staff extra time to prepare him for the casket only 19 years old. If you haven’t seen this movie it’s a very humbling show to watch if you don’t mind needing a handkerchief.

The news also mentioned that it was due straight away after this ceremony to unleash our fury for these deaths. However, our brass in the military like to give out information they shouldn’t remember “loose lips sink ships” from World War II. Yeah our own commanders have loose lips Iran’s proxies know to leave certain areas and are probably nowhere near the firepower being ferociously unleashed on the Middle East. So where exactly is the justice for these three American souls today.

Their families need our prayers as do all of the losses that were senseless and due to the lack of policy from this Administration.
