Since my tresses were cut off Monday morning; I have to admit I feel different. Each day this week thoughts have pressed me onward. Tuesday it seemed as if my hair got shorter overnight. Just glancing into the mirror the name Betty Boop came to mind. I actually looked at some of those images from the 1920s-1930s, she supposedly had more hair. Yes I do know she was a character.
Then the walks mom and I have been taking are working. I have a thing against wearing shorts; I just feel better wearing capris. This week I have been wearing my red shorts again. Believe me I am not complaining. It just seems like a lot of things are all happening altogether this week.
When mom and I were mowing for Aunt Dorothy I remember one topic in particular. She told us she would walk down the stairs for her exercise. I can’t seem to remember the routine; only that she did it. So the last couple of weeks I have been employing that same exercise. Going up and down the stairs anywhere from twice up to 6 times in a day. Depending on what other exercises have already been done.
Now after this week, I really pray and hope I don’t stop what I have been doing. Especially since it is working and accentuating the positives from my haircut. As long as I don’t overdo using my right ankle I am good with my walking at the cemetery, using the stairs and doing floor exercises.
Today I even got in some piano playing for a complementary reel for another article on “The Tree Song”. It’s a fitting end for a beautiful week of freedom to make choices to be free and healthy. Rooted in traditions that gave us that freedom to do so and to become diligent lest we lose sight of what has been fought for so every single American Citizen can live in that freedom.
