Wi- Fi, Family & a Loved Sitcom

In less than two weeks we have had no internet for no less than 5 days not always consecutively. No matter how long it’s been extremely frustrating for all of us, but mostly for Dad and me. Especially since Dad is just getting to know his new laptop when this began to happen a couple of weeks ago.

We have also had to change televisions for a different reason. My brother is an Indian giver, anyway we have a newer smart TV and we are still getting used to it too. I kind of miss the other one, but oh well I am learning how to master this one as I did the other one. However, when our internet is out again it’s frustrating how many options you have until you don’t have them. This is why I try to keep an open mind knowing this can and will happen again. We still have our antenna channels and that usually saves the day but we also have my CD player which also plays Blue Ray.

Saturday and Monday morning I woke up to Wi-Fi working. Then at different times during the day the switch just turned off. Yesterday morning the switch was still turned off and it was exasperating. Each time Dad gets an email I didn’t know that until just recently. Anyway not long before 11 am yesterday he got another email but we didn’t understand it saying something like it would be fixed this week but maybe not until Tuesday or Wednesday night. Not long afterwards a final email came on saying it would be fixed and then it still took nearly 20 more irritating minutes because even the antenna channels were not coming in very well. Suffice it to say we were finally happy within time to see the Wi-Fi was reinstated with their switch of the button.

However, because we were on those antenna channels more this weekend I noticed something. A special was to be on one that struck a chord with me. I still remember watching ‘Everyone Loves Raymond with Grandma Rosie and Grandpa Freddy. So I knew I needed to watch this special last night. When I told Mom she felt the same way. My Grandparents loved Marie, Doris Roberts and Frank, Peter Boyle, but really the whole show. The laughter it brought to the house, it just reminds me of them and all of us enjoying those family moments. Me the ever emotional one had a difficult time trying not to cry while listening to comments that made the show a hit for our family.

Earlier in the day some of my cousins came for a short visit. This just reinforced family time especially since they came from New Mexico. This is why unplugging is good to do even when it’s not always feasible. Being grounded in toys and things that can be done without Wi-Fi is necessary to be in the right place when kids come over you can be able to converse and play without feeling awkward because you need the Wi-Fi on all the time. It was a refreshing little visit that we needed I still can’t believe my cousins have little ones that are getting so big.
