Writing Prompt:

Who is the most famous or infamous person you have ever met?

There are some ladies from Channel 2 and 10 I have seen in person at some restaurant in Terre Haute. However, I think I consider the most famous at the time I met her not once but twice within a short period of time is Eva Kor. She became famous due to her Non-profit Museum created to remember the Holocaust, but also because she forgave Dr. Mengele and his experiments on her and her twin sister during World War II.

I first got to meet her as a High Schooler Junior or a Senior. Our History Class teacher took us on a field trip to meet and listen to her at her Museum in Terre Haute and then we went to Dana to see another Museum about the War Correspondent. I remember talking to one of the staff at the second Museum about my Grandpa having heart problems I hadn’t never been more open and talkative like that and was amazed at myself for the longevity of that conversation. It helped knowing as much as I did because I began looking into Grandpa’s service time and even contacted St. Louis where the Army kept personnel files.

These experiences wouldn’t have happened if Grandpa’s death hadn’t sparked my interest and need to further investigate. Eva Kor and Papaw had at least one thing in common. They were both stuffed into cattle cars because of the Nazi’s. Papaw for 5 days I don’t remember how long she was on hers I have the article though downstairs in my safe place. It’s in a box, but the magazine had her face on the front page; I didn’t want to lose the magazine ever.

The second time I met her was at Camp west of Linton. My Grandma’s church was invited to listen to her and a lot of our family went including my parents and my brothers and me. I am grateful for those two days of getting to hear from her what she lived through since I can’t hear from my Grandpa what he went through.
