Yesterday, I woke up feeling pretty good considering my arm was dead from the clavicle pain bloc on Thursday. Then somehow Friday to Saturday it turned from feeling numb to being like a couple of bricks instead of my arm. It happens slowly until I get worn out from not sitting down and propping it up.

I’m still not sure when the feeling hit me it must have also been slow at first. I know I have dealt with nausea after surgery before, but this threw me for a loop. My neighbors picked me up and I made it to Sunday School. A man and part of the Pleasantville Community at one time because of his grandparents, had hoped he hadn’t missed Homecoming. We had to tell him he did, but since he came in during our Sunday School lesson I got to hear who he was. I actually remember his grandparents from Fellowship Baptist Church, Ray and Freida Timmerman. My Dad remembers them from Pleasantville, while I have memories of them as a teenager at Fellowship.
Those were some sweet memories and that flooded my mind when I heard his grandparents names. Then he began naming my family relatives names. From my Great-Grandparents, Grandma Betty’s parents, Arle and Doris to my other side Mary and Bill on Grandpa Leo’s side. Then he also mentioned working on building the church we were sitting in and one of the names he mentioned was my Great Uncle Jimmy Bishop, my Grandpa’s youngest brother. My head was swimming with questions for him, however somehow that slow going feeling was a much stronger than it was whenever it started.
I don’t like leaving the sanctuary during the sermon, unless its absolutely warranted. I had a hard time even singing the congregational songs so I just sat still for the last song with Grandma. Once Abram started I wanted to say no to my stomach… I felt it trying to come up. That’s when I knew I had to get up but then I had another big decision to make throw up in the sanctuary or go downstairs to go to the fellowship hall to the bathroom…
Thank goodness I was able to make that decision quickly. Then just walking and cooling down a bit helped in itself. So I got some water after using the restroom and set down until the service was over. Thankfully no one really noticed, going downstairs had worked I didn’t make a big nuisance after all.
It still took a while to feel better, but even today without taking my pain pills I still had some nausea most of this morning. I have only been taking Ibuprofen since noon yesterday. I’m just really grateful I didn’t throw up in church like I thought I was going to that could have been a mess.
