Last Minute Items

Betty Bishop has a family who loves to do things for her. Including throwing her a party. This is the first time we have hosted a Birthday party for her here at our house though. Dad just kind of thought it could be fun if we got some things done outside. Plus he really likes fish, so it became a ‘Fish Fry.’

Dad and my brother Jared had fun catching the fish. Especially since he bought Dad a new fishing rod for Father’s Day this year. Dad hadn’t fished in years and it reminded him how much fun it really was for him. No one had made any suggestions or any thoughts known about Grandma’s birthday plans so he threw that idea out and it did stick.

On the Thursday before though Dad got the day off so he could have Friday off on Grandma’s Birthday as well. September 11th was my appointment with Dr. Peck. It was also our day to get some of the last minute groceries and supplies for the party.

This was our list on the left side. As you can see it kept changing. I added the pink ink to make sure I could see the difference in writers and what was specific to Thursday afternoon. The list grew a bit more, but wasn’t written down and a couple of items were literally crossed off the list as if they weren’t needed anymore. Eventually we had everything but the Crystal Light by that evening.

After lunch Dad decided we needed another table from Sam’s Club. I wasn’t sure how we would do it, but he gave us the task and so we went for it. Instead of another foldable 6 foot table he encouraged the 8 foot table if we could get it moved. I thought okay it has a handle I can do this. I couldn’t. A couple came up on us right about that time and the guy had just had surgery so he couldn’t help, but the woman did. If it had not been for her help I don’t know I might have had to ask for help. No one else was around and I tend to be like Dad; do it myself most times. If we hadn’t tried to put it in the cart and had one of the other carts there wouldn’t have been trouble.

When we got it to the car I didn’t have any trouble. Not having to lug it upwards into the car helped it was down lower helping me. I felt a lot better being able to get it done. When we called Dad to say we had it I did say someone else would have to get it out of the car though. I did feel like I had done my contribution even besides making the bulletin up for the photo booth area for Grandma, which is the first photo of the article.

The food is a whole article itself…
