The Last 24 Hours…

Last night after we rested from processing and getting the corn to the point of freezing we were then readying ourselves for this morning. Mom had an early appointment to further her journey with her dentures. It has been an uneasy experience for a long while and this was another big step.

Still I needed to get to bed early because I didn’t know whether I was driving or Dad would be. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t find out until this morning, so I had to prepare for driving. Thankfully I wasn’t but that also meant because of that I got carsick on the drive to her appointment. I don’t like getting carsick at least the weather has been perfect today. Since we got to the appointment 20 minutes early they weren’t even open yet. So we got out of the car and standing in the cooler temperature for those 20 plus minutes was really refreshing, but also frustrating that the doors weren’t open yet for the 9am appointments of the day. Yes I said plural.

There were no less than 5 cars there all with 9am appointments. Most of them were in and out unlike Mom though. We were there until 12:31am. It took an hour for the doctor to work on a specific spot that apparently wasn’t taken out with the tooth it had been attached to or it was an anomaly of some sort that needed to be worked on to get out. It made for a long morning for certain. Even more so though for Mom. She has been worried and praying for this day for months though and God saw her through it finally.

Also today I am noticing how difficult it is to not use my thumb since I cut it with the corn cutter yesterday. Using a fork has not been easy. Yet Mom watched us eat Rick’s BBQ while she ate a little bowl of applesauce although she did say it was cool and soothing for her achy mouth.
