Alright so I have already mentioned not having my medication and the text that brought us bittersweet news. Miss Yvonne was gone, but she was with her Heavenly Father. When I got my medicine I had to get a drink and eat something little with it because otherwise I would get sick from the potency of the medicine. I don’t know if I factored in the fact that I was still wearing the patch though… I might not have gotten sick.
We had a birthday dinner we had to get food ready for and some cleaning to childproof the house. Honestly I didn’t think I would be doing as much as I ended up doing. Still I was able to do some tasks up to a point as long as I didn’t push it which I do think I pushed a bit.
The kids were already hangry and ready to eat before we got the oven heated up and into the door. If my memory serves me right my brother had already brought over the boys. Unfortunately my niece was not among them, because she was at Mommy’s that weekend which we knew before that day.
In my head I thought I would get home and pick things up I needed to get out of the living room and into my room. Just the night before my surgery I was working on my cross-stitch so everything was still out. The little girl just over 1 year old was getting around a little more and into more things like her older brothers. However, she hadn’t learned to open bags with zippers yet so I used that fact. Something that would change all too soon unfortunately.
What surprised me the most was that I could still make tea one-handed. I was going to instruct my brother how to, but ended up just doing it myself. Someone did have to help me with lowering the pitcher to the sink to add the water though and getting it back up. Fortunately having Dad around to play and watch the boys helped immensely. I could not have done the food and watch the boys while waiting for my arm to wake up from it’s slumber.
The day was a 4 person team event. The kids would stare at my sling and my bandage, but not too much was said at this time. The little girl was the one really intent at staring at my bandage though and she even found the box of band aids at one point and gave them to me. It was a very sweet gesture that meant she was concerned about my arm.
