Writing Prompt:

Why do you blog?

For me this goes back to my purpose. God gives everyone a purpose or many purposes in life. I have always been reminded by the parable Jesus tells of the Talents. It’s humbling when God shows you your abilities and that they matter. Possibly even to others.

Music was the one thing I believed God had gifted me with and I was happy to serve Him using my voice and abilities music-wise. Then as in the parable when the talents increased the servant continued to humbly work with his talents. As a teenager God allowed Papaw Freddy to steer me towards becoming a detective of history and one of the future benefits would be piecing together brief summaries. I began to write because of my hobby of interviewing Veterans.

There are lows and highs. Not everything I write about is what others want to read. However, the stories I put together are based on what I have encountered. How God uses His wide array of people to bring about amazing opportunities and blessings to others or to me; they are too incredible not to mention and share with others. I have stopped writing and I feel guilty. I felt guilty when God put this idea in my heart and I failed to do something for a couple years before I started blogging.

There may not be a lot of likes or readers on every article I post. I have come to terms with that. However, if I don’t share the blessing God has allowed me to see another thought comes to mind. “This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine.” We are not supposed to hide our faith from the world. Especially in this dark world we are to be the light; being able to show how God is working is a gift that is so special I don’t understand why God gave this to me most days. Yet I know I must share even for the one person who needs to read what I have posted.
