The Reunion, 2025

Seeing family is good. Sometimes we only see our other branches on this day alone though, sadly. We don’t always have everybody most years and some skip a year every once in a while. It all depends on our schedules I suppose. Or on how long it takes us to get to the Shelter house at the Linton Park this location hasn’t changed for several years. Although we did meet for a few years up north at Shakamak Park and that was also fun.

There were no less than 50 of us; I think one of my aunt’s said. Yet I don’t think we got an official count. The tables were full of good food there were 2 plates of good sized home garden tomatoes and one bowl full of cherry tomatoes. I love tomatoes, but I filled my plate with taco salads that already had tomatoes in them. As far as I know I didn’t have a reaction to them, but we have had a few tomatoes of our own so I passed on them this time. Unfortunately, one of the lingering side affects from my last ulcer is that my tongue stings from the acidity from tomatoes, but garden tomatoes don’t affect me as much as restaurant tomatoes still do.

The weather was perfect yesterday, we couldn’t have asked for a prettier and just the right temperature for the day. Grandma even got to hold the most recent baby born which was actually back in December, but she was the youngest one there yesterday. Right before my surgery I got to hold Lilian less than two weeks before my surgery which is the last time I got to see her. We were both having surgeries and hers was a month or so after mine I think. She was adorable and one of the little ones taking up all the attention in the room.

There was one moment in time where I was standing next to Mandela who was talking to Grandma Betty and I started playing with his thick black curls. Then he turned to me and started playing with my curls. He is just so cute and charming. I love playing with my little cousins sometimes I get to see my cousins’ kids more than I see them.

Unlike normally, I only took a handful of photos including these. Even little Zeke with his reddish hair was in the photo another cutie. There are just too many Bishop kiddos that have Grandma Betty or Papaw Leo’s genes in them making them absolutely adorable. Somehow I missed Marissa that’s a shame with her Lilo or Stitch shirt she was wearing.

I would say the Bishop Reunion was a success this year.
