In Elementary School, I’m not sure which grade or how old I was I remember one specific school trip. We went to see ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in the theater up at Terre Haute. I want to say it was behind the mall, but I can’t say for certain.
As a little girl the show was awesome, but what I lived for at that age was to hum along with or sing the music. Those songs are still in my mind when I hear them and begin to sing it makes my niece smile really big. Singing is such a big part of my life it’s not something easily forgotten.
Later on in the last ten years or so Hobby Lobby created Disney kits of some of the favorites I grew up with. They had two versions a large size and a mini version. I was able to get a few of these including both of the ‘Beauty and the Beast’. I was so excited to get both of these more so than the others.
When I started on this I didn’t know surgery was coming or that that word would become plural. After my first carpal tunnel I thought I was done with cross-stitch. Funny how I still keep going back to it no matter how long the intermittent time may be. I only got half of this big version done before my surgeries began. I actually thought about throwing the piece away, because I forgot about it and let it get dusty and stained a bit.
Fast forward to after my recent surgery I’m working on it again. The stains have been worked on plus I now can work with the fabric in a different way than I originally thought. It’s still not finished, but I am once again excited to see this piece with this new perspective.

Childhood dreams… are still possible I guess.
