A Writing Prompt

Haven’t done one of these in a while. Top ten favorite movies. This is hard because there are different genres of movies. I love musicals as well as western classics. Plus World War II movies were stand alone favorites through my college years.

  1. The Best Years Of Our Lives – Myrna Loy, Dana Andrews
  2. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers -Jane Powell, Howard Keel
  3. Home Alone, the Original – Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci
  4. Father Goose – Cary Grant, Leslie Caron
  5. McClintock -John Wayne, Maureen O’Hara
  6. The Man Who Knew Too Much -Jimmy Stewart, Doris Day
  7. Midway with Charlton Heston, Henry Fonda
  8. The Sound of Music – Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer
  9. The Ten Commandments -Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner
  10. 1776 The Musical -William Daniels, Howard Da Silva

Making this list was not easy. This is just a fraction of my favorite John Wayne films, Julie Andrews, Myrna Loy, Dana Andrews Howard Keel, Doris Day Jimmy Stewart and Cary Grant movies. In college I discovered my love for Turner Classic Movies. My family however, already had a love for Jane Powell and Jimmy Stewart, the Home Alone movies and of course the legend John Wayne. Movies were the Alsman way of gathering together. We would gather at my grandparents house and watch movies before, after and while eating. My uncles figured out a way to play the television in the front room and we could watch whatever was on that television in the kitchen television even if it was a VHS at the time.
