Thursday was already a long stressful day due to a lost phone. Somewhere in the middle of the night, however, Mom’s light-headedness got the best of her. It’s progressively gotten worse. This accident made finding out more about it a priority though to keep Mom from injuring herself much worse.
Thankfully after a long few days for her with a fractured finger one of her appointments was today. Come to find out, her insulin, may be the culprit in this progressive and scary increase of dizziness and tipsy as she calls it feeling. Have you heard the term hyperglycemia? The word does sound daunting doesn’t it!
Excessive sugar in the blood. So it is a bit daunting to hear a doctor say that to you. Or in my case the doctor to my Mom. The good thing is taking away some of the short-acting insulin she was taking will be a good step in reducing that extra sugar. Hopefully in kind it will help her to regain her balance again. I can’t begin to describe the fear of her falling down the stairs just so we could ride our bike. She has missed the last few days of her time on the bike too.
Plus the imbalance led us to ask for a referral. So soon hopefully she will be visiting my Neurologist down in Vincennes. She has had some of this imbalance for years, but I’m certain, like the doctor said, the insulin has been a big part of why she fell.

The past few days have shown me how much she has done to help me after my surgery. Then add that to laundry and dishes and cooking it’s a lot to do all in a day’s worth. I have been trying to do as much as I can, but this has been a busy weekend so it’s been hard to do the articles that I really wanted to do. I had no idea when I started back on here Thursday that things would change for me literally overnight. She is trying to do what she can but her bad finger is the middle one so that makes it very unhandy and almost like she’s giving the middle finger to everyone. It’s funny but it’s not.
Finally on Thursday we will get to see the Orthopedic Doctor. Not sure it will change from what we already know, but we will be able to ask some questions and talk to him about specifics. We are trying to get ready for a birthday party for Grandma Betty here at our house and Mom’s worried about what she can’t do right now. So whatever hope he can give her might help her to feel better. It’s a change of venue for our party scheme and dining. Dad will be catching and frying our dinner. It will be a ‘Fish Fry’ it will be fun, but me and James will have to help even more to help, I will be part of the cooking team though so that will be most of my duties.
Hopefully everything will turn out alright, Dad’s sisters are excited about a Family ‘Fish Fry’ Event. It will be a fun night for Grandma’s birthday!
