The last week has been fairly epic hasn’t it?
Not only with the election results a week ago, but personally in my family. Mom’s sugar number was high and that sent her into the ER due to complex insurance problems. Then this weekend we both somehow ended up being somewhat sick.
My problem was eating something apparently too old and then promptly throwing it up. However, I still felt yucky for most of the morning and part of the afternoon. Then once I did feel better I had wanted to clean my room which meant moving some furniture around. Mom had to help me out by moving the bed a bit. I still believe that is what got me down the next morning; everything I moved was achy.
Yet Mom woke up not feeling well on Sunday. For a while I thought what I had was communicable. Eating bad food isn’t contagious. Especially when she didn’t touch the same food for breakfast. Dad though does believe it was sugar related.
We just had her ER follow-up this morning. Hopefully we will get her straightened out again. The blessed irony of Thursday was the mail Dad found that day. Apparently she has partial insurance only for the hospital her medicines and doctor visits part won’t come until next year. So God-willing Mom’s insurance will be sorted out by the beginning of the year. This rug was swept out from under my Mom in June and it has been stress and frustration ever since. My parents were told she would never lose her insurance due to some medical notes; that must have been a lie. For a diabetic person though that can be a death sentence.
We were actually beginning to believe something else was happening. Thankfully it was just the lack of diabetes medicine; the other would have been worse to deal with again possibly. The lack of insurance with that other issue would have been much, much worse. Medical bills are difficult to climb out of these would have been astronomical for us.
On a good note though, we are very soon heading to a hair appointment. I usually do Mom’s hair so after the past week she gets her hair done by her favorite hair stylist, friend and confidante. These days are much needed from time to time. Plus Gina and I get to talk about last Tuesday; it will be great fun to see the relief we both feel on the other one.
