Pastor’s Appreciation Month. Last Sunday we celebrated our Pastor with a pitch in dinner and his favorite hymn songs. That morning I officially broke out my clarinet for a song. It was a pretty awesome day.
For the past two years I have needed and wanted to play my clarinet and do some different hymn songs. The Sunday before I finally asked Brenda if we could practice sometime. When we did get that practice in on Friday we spent an hour and a half on 3 different songs. I believe I just introduced her to the new world of instruments harmonizing with the piano. After going through the first verse I heard I like that.
Mom and I played several instrumentals one year before Covid changed offering procedures in various churches. Then she kept asking, is there anything else you want to practice… until it had been 90 minutes later. We were having fun.
Again getting, a “thank you for your song” from Dwight, the preacher, was special during our dinner afterwards. It was such a sweet and wonderful day that I even thought of my parents for dessert. Someone made a Peanut Butter Pie and I knew Dad would love a piece, plus I got a piece of Chocolate Cake, a Brownie which was also awesome and a slice of Pumpkin Pie. It didn’t take Dad long to get out of his slumber in his chair to find a fork for the pie.
Then on top of all that going to Fellowship that evening I got even better news. They began choir practice for the Christmas Cantata that day. I made a promise to be at practice next week since I did sign up to be in choir earlier this year. Another surprise was seeing an old friend and former member of the church return for a visit. I haven’t seen her for 2 years ironically on a Sunday evening at another church.
My church community is amazing. I can’t imagine life without this far-reaching community.
