My last post was Thursday and the pain was a lot for a good round of 36 hours. Plus I had a girl with a headache during the second night. So there were two nights of little to no sleep back to back.
On Sunday morning then I had not fully gotten back to my sleep fulfillment. Of course, Friday morning I had to get an x-ray for my upcoming podiatrist appointment. So I thought I needed to leave off my cream and simply not walk early that morning. However, one morning became two mornings. Not sleeping and not walking has had an adverse effect on me this weekend. So I got to have some time catching up with some news from the storm zone states.
Rep. Corey Mills once again is leading the charge on saving American lives, when this current administration is completely inadequate and incompetent. He is not the only one though and what I saw on some of these news clips was beautiful.
This administration has called Christians essentially “terrorists”. This part of the south is heavily ‘MAGA’ Country, supposedly and is why FEMA has not exactly been seen doing anything really. Over the last few days I heard a comment from David Axelrod, a Democratic Strategist. Saying the words out loud, and I’m paraphrasing that it would be okay if they didn’t get their chance to get to the polls this election.
The Churches in the affected states came together in a big way and have been pulling together to serve each other. These were the sweetest, teary-eyed clips I have been affected by, Veterans with helicopters getting to the hardest to reach areas and its people. Samaritan’s Purse was also the purpose of one of the videos led by the Graham Family. They have been really busy ever since this hurricane subsided; neighbors helping neighbors.
Watching these videos before heading to church kind of gave me the bounce I needed. The Church and the effects of having a Church Community cannot be understated. It’s the people and the churches that had to amass and take charge of their family, friends and neighbors in a way that the government will not do. A quote is in my head from President Ronald Reagan about that very matter. There are 9 words that have stayed in my mind over the years. “I’m here from the government and I’m here to help.” This may even be worse though, FEMA is supposed to be helping the American citizens of this country and they didn’t show up when they were needed. They have supposedly been around, but not really seen and yet American tax dollars have gone to Ukraine and Lebanon recently to the tune of millions.
It was bad enough when it happened in Maui, then in East Palestine and now it’s these states on the east coast not getting what they deserve from their government that they have paid into with their taxes for years. However, in the face of this slap from the government they are working hard to work together for their fellow Americans in those affected states and some coming from other states specifically to help. Veterans are once again showing their undying love and support for their country, putting their lives on the line to help their fellow citizens. We have the best of the best elite military in the world. They have the spirit of our Founding Fathers in them, something that doesn’t just disappear or flip flip like Kamala Harris’s policy does. As much as we are in this surreal version of our country right now our Veterans remember the sacred vows they made when they heeded the call to defend and support our Constitution and ‘We The People.’
Many people are insulted by the words of Biden from the other day. Someone asked him what he thought about the storm? His reaction was, “What storm?” How disappointing would that answer be for you as a victim of that 100 year storm!
Yesterday I learned from my Aunt who is still working at our local Wal-Mart. A bunch of our toilet paper was sent to the folks in the storm zone. I was actually proud of that donation when my Aunt mentioned it. I may not work there anymore, but I am glad they sent an important necessity to our cousins in the south. Never forget America may have separate states, but we are the United States of America. I watched 1776 the Musical again last week we have fought for this nation even against our own family members in the Civil War we are “One Nation Under God” a family who has sweated, bled and died together to have this experiment work. The beauty of this experiment is that it has been over 2 centuries now and is nearly 250 years old. For all intensive purposes it has worked. Our Founders even warned us about what we are going through now all the way back then. They knew things would change when people changed, just look at Genesis. Joseph was looked on as Prime Minister, a Prince of Egypt, once the current Egyptian family died that knew or remembered Joseph was gone the Israel become a slave nation. That was all it took to forget history that was not that far from them.
There you go, my thoughts from Sunday Morning. Continue to pray for the storm ravaged communities of our cousins in our southern states. The temperatures at night will be getting in the 30’s and they still don’t have much electricity, blankets, water or in so many locations. Plus if Helene wasn’t enough, Milton is on its way towards Florida.
