This morning Mom and I had early plans. When she had working insurance she signed up for a Diabetes Class and it required her to be present for two days in Terre Haute. Originally the classes were scheduled for a July, but someone else’s doctor’s appointment threw those plans up in the air.
Momma usually wants me at her appointments. Especially when Dad can’t be with her. So she volunteered me to join her for this class, simply by default. As you know if you have read my articles before we like to walk first thing in the morning. The class started at 9 am so that meant walking even earlier. We got up at 6:30 and instead of our 40 minute walk because it was still dark at 6:45 we decided to only walk 20 minutes this morning.

The email about this class and the specifics told us some daunting facts. Firstly that it would be at Union Hospital, I am not sure where everything is up there around the hospital I am not up there that much. Then it said the class on both days would be from 9 am to 12 noon. That sounded especially daunting and like I was being sent back to college. Or worse back to my Fresenius 2 day orientation two years ago.
Thankfully we found the Landsbaum Center, GPS can be amazing when it works. The drive took longer due to a slow drive unfortunately, but we only parked with 5 minutes of the start of the class. One of my questions about this whole thing was is this just a class for Mom or will there be a room full of other people. We got our answer today. There were supposed to be three of us and one called them and said she was sick. This means we were the only students for this two-day session. There was the nurse in charge of the class and a new nurse spectating for the first time as she was just welcomed into this team that was hosting the class.
Anyhow for a 3 hour session it really went fast and she was able to personalize it more because it was just us in the class. Honestly I would not have talked as much as I did if more had been in the class. It ended up being a nice class to be a part of even if we only had one 5 minute break. It didn’t seem to bother us though either. Now we get a day off and then Friday we get a class on Nutrition.
Hopefully we won’t be behind another slow driver that makes us late for our class again. At least we know where our room is unless it changes again which we were told it could possibly!
