Sentimental Moments

This Friday morning has been a busy day. Mom and got our walk in a little bit later than the last couple of days. Besides my last article I was looking for something I couldn’t find for quite a while because it is fairly crucial to start one of my next projects. It was after 11 pm that I finally went to bed and without any message from Bryan. It usually leaves me feeling like I have lost connection to him to get a good nights sleep.

Everything got put back by at least 22 minutes because I slept in that long. My younger brother also usually likes taking Mom to her toe trim appointments but he had to work early this morning. I haven’t been to the Clinic in quite a while maybe even years at this point. Mom because of her lack of insurance for most of the summer hasn’t been able to get an appointment to do her toes this whole time. So she began to fill in the nurse about the past couple of months. Sometimes it’s really interesting to here how much of a small world our world truly is at times.

The nurse knew the people Mom was mentioning who had died. Starting with our cousin Kenny and Devona and then mentioning the student who had been enrolled at Dugger. The nurse knew or had met all of them herself. Kenny was so well known it still gets me we can have conversations and have people we just met and they knew him. She had met both of them a couple of times. It’s really amazing to see how much he affected so many different area communities due to his job experiences.

Everyday we walk at the cemetery we keep looking at the grass on top of his casket. There are so many new spots since his was placed there over a month ago. We keep waiting for the time to see the hybrid of stone and her ashes in one I remember hearing it being talked about it will be a unique gravestone.

To go back to Mom’s appointment though, as we headed towards my brothers place we noticed some workers. One of our neighbors has recently had some excess water on the road and today of all days was when they decided to work on that problem. It wouldn’t have been a problem if they had just put out some signage if they knew that no one could go past them on that main road. I needed that road this morning, but their big trucks were not in any way shape or form out of the way so they should have had some signs on both sides. Instead I had to go that way thinking I could get around but found out I couldn’t and then turn around and go out of my way to get back to the road I needed to get to Mom’s appointment.

What really frustrated me was there was a guy that could have stopped us and told us this but decided not to. I thought for certain we would be late to her appointment. Somehow though we were actually on time and even 5 minutes early. I told her to call and say we would be late I am grateful to have my Dad’s and Grandpa’s lead foot at times like this Mom really didn’t want to miss this appointment today.
