Last Thursday our internet went on and off a few different times from noontime to sometime during the evening. When it came time to slow down for the night Mom had been asking me to put a movie on. So since our dumb television wasn’t acting as smart I decided to look through my DVD collection.
My goodness there was a movie that had recently been in my mind. An old goody that brought back some amazing memories for me. Wow they go back at least 10 years maybe a couple more than that even. Uncle Mike and Grandma Rosemary were both still around. Their laughter… is still missing in our lives today. Yet I can hear some of that old magic when my niece laughs now. Time has flown by so quickly since each one died yet this movie brings them back to me in little ways.
Movie night meant more when they were around. Plus like I said when something was funny you heard it because they both had hearty laughs. “Three Guys Named Mike,” was quite a favorite movie of ours. I found it in the $5 bin at the Princeton Walmart while I was down at college one evening. That find was absolutely priceless what it gave to me through the years of listening to Grandma and Uncle Mike enjoying the film. I can’t tell you how many times we watched this movie because it became their favorite one.
They would pick it over and over again while Mom and I were mowing at Grandma Betty’s. I even remember Grandma Betty noticing how much they seemed to love that show and laughed so hard it was infectious. Jane Wyman was the main character and then she met 3 men who just happened to be all named Mike. Uncle Mike really liked that part of the show too. She was Ronald Reagan’s first wife before he became our president.

In less than a month a new movie will be debuting “Reagan” and it will be about him and his presidency. I am looking forward to seeing this film. Dennis Quaid has always been a favorite leading man to watch in his films. Of course, “Parent Trap” is another one of my favorites from yesteryear. It doesn’t help that he is a Hollywood guy that is voting for Trump. He believes Trump is actually very much like Reagan with his policies on National Security. Solid policy works, too bad Kamala doesn’t have any policy ideas of her own.
