My Surprise

This morning I got a phone call from Mom. She was on our way to my Uncle’s appointment at the hospital, but she decided to make one phone call in between. It kind of caught me off guard even though I knew she was wanting to make this phone call for a while.

So when Mom called me she had already contacted Gina and had gotten us appointments for tonight. I was astounded at the swift movement to get these appointments on the same day she called. So then I had some time to marinate on what I wanted done. Mom had already told her I wanted my hair colored. The question is what color or colors?

Somehow the color red came to mind. Gina said this color is called Cherry Cola. It actually looks a bit orange, but I love it the color is the change I needed.

Apparently after all this was done we still had a lot to talk about. We stayed and chatted until almost 9:40. Just like old times for us. It was pretty dark by the time we drove home. On our way back towards Dugger I had just made the turn at the caution lights going the opposite of Linton towards Dugger when flashing lights filled my mirror.

Once I slowed down and stopped one ambulance went past me, but then not far behind was another ambulance and two police cars with flashing lights. My goodness my thoughts went racing and almost immediately my cousin Kenny came to mind once again. Then Mom said something about praying for them. My thoughts and prayer were so jumbled in my mind it took going all the way to the railroad crossing to actually finish the prayer with, “in Jesus name Amen.” They all just seemed to disappear into the road. Apparently they got through before the train came, but I couldn’t tell where they were headed except they were on the road towards Dugger.

My thoughts with Ambulances have been synonymous with Kenny for a long time. It took a few seconds to realize he’s gone, he wouldn’t have been in that one anyhow coming from Linton. I just pray wherever these guys were headed to would be safe and they would know Jesus as their Savior and that it wouldn’t be as bad as it looked like from all the vehicle power heading that direction.

Talk about surprises I didn’t really need that kind of surprise on the way home. At least I could see all 5 Emergency Vehicles and got out of their way. I just pray the Lord guides and directs them and that there are no fatalities!
