2 Years…

Since I turned 30 my life has changed drastically. I remember thinking in my 20’s listening to others about surgeries how amazing it was I had not needed one up to that point in my life. Yeah I guess I should have knocked on wood, first.

Literally every 2 years something has happened from my initial surgery to remove a cyst that was avoidable, if my physician had taken the right course of action to begin with to my Carpal Tunnel Releases and my my most recent surgeries on my right wrist and arm.

My problem is that I can’t sit idly by, I am constantly using my hands for craft hobbies, musical crafts and to prepare food and so forth. So I guess the Carpal Tunnel is my own fault essentially. I like working with my hands so that will not change.

This past weekend some pain started. It took me from sometime Friday to that evening to realize what I was feeling was in fact real. Then yesterday I began to see the same kind of knot that was on my other wrist. I am a little paranoid obviously, because this brought on not just one, but two surgeries over the period of a year was my first round of this problem.

Everyone keeps telling me to calm down and not borrow trouble. I am really trying to do that the pain just seems to have come out of nowhere all of a sudden. Last time there was a specific place of work and activity that stirred this into a problem. The only reasons I can think of now is that I have been working more with my hands with cross-stitch and pillows. Plus hand washing since we no longer have a working dishwasher could also be a little part of the starting of this specific pain in this area of my wrist.

Last time I put off talking to the doctor for most of a year. This time I went ahead today and made an appointment. However, it will be October before I can see her. This is a long wait. However, it does give me some time to do some work as long as I don’t make my wrist worse by doing so before the appointment if this is indeed what I believe it to be. Both my ulna bones were longer than they should be the left one I had hoped would not need to be worked on if I was absolutely careful about using it. Two years though… on September 8, it will have been 3 years since the first surgery on my wrist. It has been 2 years since the second surgery where the doctor took out the seven screws and plate from my arm. All of that was quite a process to get through.

Plus this would be my dominant side having the wrist and arm surgery on. Again though I am trying not to go there, but it’s really hard not to… remembering that it wasn’t that long ago. Still God could work amid this situation in the next 3 months. Although I can’t sit idle like I said there are projects in my mind right now to make and finish. Only time will tell…
