A few days of not having more than one child and we are still recuperating. Last night Dad couldn’t even use the printer because of some girls printing and printing Lilo and Stitch pictures. It took me and Dad nearly 10 minutes to figure out how many times they had forced this to print over and over again.
I knew my niece was printing some coloring pages and I know she knows how to use the printer. I didn’t think it would be this complicated for Dad to print out his important paperwork. I knew something was blinking on the printer even after the girls left but was afraid to tackle the problem beforehand. Apparently I should have so Dad wouldn’t have had so many coloring pages come out at him instead of his printing needs.
Anyhow the past couple of weeks have been intriguing to say the least. Sewing each pillow with each girl that also wanted to explore pillow making has been fun while educational. It has quite an experience. I never thought I could feel as comfortable going back and forth between colors and bobbins so quickly. Or have such fun adding thread to the bobbins for the bottom color. I don’t consider myself a professional by any means but it is a new skill for fun I am continuing to work on.
Seeing the girls faces when they see each side is amazing to watch. It is fun to watch. Almost all of them have been nervous to make the first stitch on the machine. Then they warm up when they realize at the end of the last side they just made a pillow. It’s cool to be the one assisting them in making something I only just started to do myself. Unfortunately not all of them have Moms or Grandmas that have a sewing machine to work with. Although at least one has said her Grandma does have a machine so I hope this spurred an interest in her to ask her for some lessons.
Hopefully it won’t feel like a tornado every two weeks at a time this summer. Being adaptable and dependable sometimes comes at a price called exhaustion. Yet it usually gives you the most cherished moments you don’t expect.
