One week ago we had a little birthday party for my Great-Great Uncle Dick. There was a special voice of God directing Mom and possibly Great Aunt Helen about last Wednesday. They were determined to spend time with him for his birthday.

Thank God we did!
This morning Aunt Helen couldn’t get a hold of Mom so she called me. Mom missed that call too. We were in the middle of preparing dinner. Finally she called her back and found out that Dick’s daughter found him last night sitting in the living room. The same one we were just in with him right here.
Uncle Dick was surprised the weekend before by his children with a big birthday party. Last Wednesday night he said there were so many people there he couldn’t talk to everyone and sit down with an in-depth conversation like he wanted to do. He was so excited to see everyone but he loved his conversation time. Like what we had Wednesday night on his 85th birthday.
Something just told us we needed to take the time… to make time. We will never regret taking the time to care and converse with our loved ones. Knowing he was a Christian man is also extremely comforting. Now he is reunited with his wife Dorothy. Now he doesn’t have to worry about the surgery he was severely needing, but was really too bad heart wise to have the surgery.
This is a lesson we have to learn over and over sometimes. I learned it as a teenager when my Grandpa Leo died. You have to take chances or risks with those you love. When there is a time you can gain time with a precious person in your life one way or another sitting with them at church, taking cookies and talking with them one afternoon, watching a movie with them take the time. You never know when it will be your last time. If you don’t take the chance you will never know the enrichment you and that person will have in your lives. Don’t regret the chance or risk that is not taken!
