The Company Picnic

Saturday afternoon more late afternoon I would say we headed up to Terre Haute. The Company tends to go back and forth between Brazil Park and The Rex Baseball Field or The Bob Warn Field was what was on the facility. Apparently there are a few names that could be used in reference to this Stadium. Honestly we don’t watch too much baseball, but it is neat being around the Sycamore Stadium. Still the park is more versatile and starts earlier in the day.

We took two cars and had five in Dad’s car and three in my uncle’s car. We arrived in two bunches that’s another long story. My uncle’s car was having troubles with the air conditioning. That’s the short version anyway.

Once we all arrived we entered into the stadium where foul balls can penetrate. This is very important to remember! The last time I was at this location which this time was my 3rd time we went to the south side of the facility where the kids play area is now, I don’t remember that being an official play area before. We ate on the north side that we normally walk through to get to the other side. Rick’s BBQ was catering the food. They have a wonderful menu and awesome barbecue sauces. Only I don’t remember them having hot dogs on the menu before. These dogs were massive and had good flavoring though. I only had half of my nieces all she ate was the Mac and Cheese her food staples no matter what.

They also had a bag of chips and a second option a pulled pork sandwich. I got the pulled pork, then I shared her hot dog with her Dad. The sweet tea was also awesome… but something was missing. At the park they always have DQ and Dilly bars as many as you want. Instead on the other side of the stadium there were snow cones but you had to pay for them.

The baseball came through this opening.

On our way home we stopped at Sullivan DQ to get our Dilly bar fix in. Dad needed to get his desert in somehow. Although it was as busy as you could expect on a Saturday night. The good thing about the day was that it was extremely hot. Oh I nearly forgot back to that foul ball. While our second crew was getting their food one of the teams lost a ball and hit one of our tables. It took a couple of seconds to figure out what happened. A big family was sitting at that table fortunately no one got hurt, but that definitely woke us up and then that’s when I noticed the sign about foul balls on the wall.

While we were eating I noticed why we were sitting where we were sitting. Somehow we were at the end of the last row opposite of the food tables. Then I looked at where my niece sat down and it finally registered. There was a little girl and a baby right behind her. Sometimes she is so easy to read. She had more fun talking to that baby than eating her Mac and Cheese.
