Sewing

The last few days have been very intriguing. I have had three ladies who have reputations for being good seamstresses ecstatic about my new interest in sewing with my Grandma’s machine.

Plus my new Brother machine. Which has been a big blessing for me as well. I just finished my helicopter pillow this evening. I was fully determined to do so while waiting in the hospital waiting room. However, I had the pillow and the thread even the little box to put my pins in. The one thing I forgot to bring and didn’t realize until we got halfway to the hospital was the needle I needed to make the stitches.

Yeah I thought I had everything I thought that I would need except for the one tool to make the stitches. The actual procedure though took less than 15 minutes so it seemed when the doctor sneaked in on us waiting in the surgery waiting room. He came in through a door I was not looking for and came in behind us instead of from the door we took to go back to the room.

Anyhow everything went well. We just have to wait for the results. I only wished I could have worked on another pillow this evening to have a second one finished or at least another one started this evening. My forgetfulness cost me time in finishing a second one today.

Perhaps it was just in God’s will. I did get an article done before I had to go get the car and pull it up. There were too many people in the waiting area to write earlier. So I actually started the article in the room while he was recovering.

Still if I get a pillow a day done it would be good for the next few days. I just need some cord and possibly some lace and I will be good. As long as I can also come up with some new pieces to be started. It has just been exciting to see how others were excited that someone my age was finding an interest in this long standing skill and art that can be used in so many ways in our lives, besides pillows.
