Timing, God’s Timing!

My uncle lost his drivers license on Friday. After all chaos is a perfect word for the past weekend and what we have endured on some level. Yet he didn’t realize it until today. Last Friday was a busy day because he also forgot his phone a couple of times that day.

One time was at Rural King so we thought we would find out if he had left it there. So on our way to Terre Haute all of a sudden traffic was backed up to the Abe Roofing business before you turn towards Menards. No one was moving on our side but the other side going southbound wasn’t having troubles as far as we could see. Within 10 to 15 minutes of sitting not moving much at all we saw a Med evac take off with the wounded. Of course we couldn’t see who the wounded were or how many there were.

We did see both of the cars as we slowly went past. Our two lanes were merged to one lane. I saw that a semi was next to me and got right behind him. There were two cars who got stuck there when the semi took off, but thinking as I did to get over I allowed them both the space to get in front of me. I think it shocked them because it took them both more than 5 seconds to get the idea I was letting them go first. Anyhow seeing the wreck sobered the three of us in our car. Still we didn’t know or recognize the vehicles.

So we went on our way. Finally after eating and heading to Hobby Lobby my home away from home lately we went next door to Rural King, the new one. All we found out was that someone else had left a drivers license behind there, but not my uncle’s.

Once we got home Aunt Helen finally called Mom back. She had tried to call a few times today but couldn’t get through. Come to find out the other woman not flown by Med-Evac was my Mom’s Aunt. Thank God she had no life-threatening injuries and neither did the woman in the Med-Evac, but they were both being seen to buy emergency services. Ironically, Aunt Helen’s son has been an EMT for decades and he knows that a Med-Evac costs 78,000 for a ride. So the question was why if there were no life-threatening injuries didn’t they just call for an ambulance? Surely there was an ambulance for Uncle Mark’s wife though since she wasn’t in the helicopter. So who knows what the reasoning was they may know more than we do.

As I went up to work on some more projects on the Pfaff machine another snafu hit me. I now have to get some Pfaff oil I didn’t get too far and was stopped. However, after some intense minutes of looking in both our car and my Uncle Tony’s car his driver’s license was finally found. He left it in the pouch behind the passenger’s seat, in our car.

The Lord’s timing is sometimes very intriguing and ironic. Tonight was a sobering reminder of the privilege of driving and its ups and downs.
