Somehow I had a feeling yesterday was going to be quite a day!
My plans had already faltered when I found the sewing machine surrounded. Then it was just me and I needed my uncle’s help to get to the machine. He was walking when I called him, but I told him not to rush home.
Before I knew it he called me back less than half an hour later saying that his car was telling him his tire was low. My car has a sensor that is constantly going off, but my tires have been checked. So I wasn’t sure exactly what to tell him and he doesn’t always listen anyway. He made it home and neither of us saw a big difference in the tires. Although it would still be another hour before we took off to eat lunch.

I thought maybe for a change we could eat at Bobes in Sullivan, but the time really wasn’t good it would have been after 1 pm and they close at 1:30. We opted for Backstreet Pizza instead. It was like a sign from heaven. Before we left I couldn’t tell at all something was wrong with that tire. Then once we stepped outside from eating there it was blatantly obvious.
I tell you though, God was in the details. We were less than half a mile from Tire Mart because of the change in the restaurant. We would not have made it if we had to come from the north side of town. Talk about little blessings! We did have to wait a while to get into the line of customers already at Sullivan Tire Mart. The place is usually busy, it’s been a long time since I have had to sit and wait there. As the farmer’s daughter and granddaughter it seemed like we lived there at times between our vehicles and the tractor tires. It was difficult a reminder of old times.
The worst part was that I missed an hour or so of working on some projects. I got over that, but just knowing that we had been fortunate enough to get there and that he was able to get the new tire without too much trouble was God’s grace reaching towards us that afternoon.
I never know day to day what I can find myself in the middle of, it can be frustrating or maybe even a little on the fun side. Life is always taking me on different little adventures I can’t plan on and I just have to roll with the punches sometimes.
