Sewing Time

Grandma Rosie’s Pfaff Machine

Getting to this point today has taken quite a while. Really too much time because of my battle with the allergies the last couple of months. I did what I could, but there were nights I shouldn’t have even had a needle in my hand because my head just wasn’t working right. Unfortunately I did have to take a chunk out the next day because I got off on my count which just took longer to fix.

Once I got up to Grandma’s house with Mom and saw the room where it had been sitting; I had to gasp. It was covered in stuff all around the housing. This isn’t what I was hoping to see and yet due to certain circumstances I was not surprised. Quickly Mom and I were able to move things away from it and off of it. It took a little time and was another workout on top of our 25 minute walk we took not long before we got to the house.

Between my uncle and myself we got the machine into the living room so I could look it over. Just doing that was another chore. Then I got to just sit with the machine for a while looking at the drawers and trying to dust it off a bit.

This is where I found a drawer with a bag that just smelled of Grandma. That is when the significance of being at her sewing machine took me back to yesteryear when she was helping me make a dress the last time I believe she used it. The tears wet my eyes in fond remembrance of that memory.

I am looking forward to exploring this device and learning how to use it as Grandma Rosie did. I am another step closer to this dream being realized. Tomorrow will be another interesting day for me to see what happens!
