A Beautiful Sunday

There’s so much to process still. My day began a little after 7 am when I had to assist Mom with Dad’s birthday cake. I still had another alarm that didn’t have time to go off because Mom decided to wake me up instead. Church wasn’t supposed to start until after 10 am so I thought I would take just a few more minutes, but it simply was not meant to be.

In Mom’s defense she wanted to get the cake going and it did need some time to cool down. I also promised to wash her hair and I usually do so on Saturdays. Last night though I wasn’t feeling good so she was putting it off for me and I was able to feel some better this morning, but I don’t quite know how to explain it except possibly more allergy frustration.

Last night even while I wasn’t feeling the best I found three of my already made cards to use for today. I wrote on all of them, but needed to sleep on the 3rd before I finished the task. Grandma’s was the first one I did and by far the longest worded of them also took the most out of me. There has been a song, I finally looked it up Thomas Rhett and Morgan Wallen was also featured in the song ‘Mamaw’s House’. Now neither of my Grandma’s smoked, but there were surely Bibles on the nightstand and worker bees for my Grandparents for certain as well as a swing and more like a carport on the Alsman side and a front porch on the Bishop side.

This song hits me in the heartstrings so much more because of our decision to sell Mamaw’s House. It will always be my grandparent’s house full of cherished memories that have given us no less than 20 albums worth of photo remembrances. Probably even more than that we have gone through a ton of our heritage in image style since last year. So I wrote a personal message in Grandma Betty’s card that, of course made me sob while writing it out.

Mom and Dad got their respective cards before church. Fortunately my younger brother was able to also sign it and they got their cards. Even though we were going to Grandma’s church we decided to wait until we were back at her apartment. The look on Grandma’s face was priceless as always when we showed up to visit her at church. Today after 3 weeks of being out of church due to allergies, it was so nice to be back in a pew. It also solidified a decision to return next week.

The ladies in the church are so amazing and consider Grandma as one of the great mothers in the church. After all she and Grandpa did have 6 kids to get ready every Sunday morning and they made it each week like clockwork.
