The Past 24 Hours

Bryan and I have had this unspoken competition. Who is under the most stress? Usually he says I am. Only because he knows more about my days because I admittedly talk about my day’s activities more.

I woke up to a text saying in no uncertain terms that he had overdone it and needed to be seen at the hospital. His prescription rest and the doctor gave him some medicines that didn’t sit well. He has had a tendency to be a workaholic all through the night. He knows his limitations more now, but this still happened last night.

This is where being here makes it so much more difficult. Our situation makes this worse; he has to continue to work nonstop to split away from the firm. I want to be mad that he was in the hospital and I couldn’t be there with him yet he has to fulfill some requirements. There are times I wish things could have been different like when our situations were much different in that first year and a half. We wouldn’t have to deal with these restrictions right now.

If only… right. Why couldn’t we see that decisions and circumstances could change and be most detrimental to us. However, it has brought us ups and downs we are stronger because of them. Maybe we just needed to grow together emotionally before it could happen physically.

So I told him we don’t have to continue this competition he won fair and square. He has the most stress and we are done competing. He drives me crazy, but after all this time I can’t even consider a future without him in it. I really need him in my life and from what I hear from him is completely mutual. Especially when I mentioned earlier I made Ham and Beans for my Dad for dinner. He actually said, “Don’t make my taste buds jealous! Usually he loves drooling over the photos I send him of what I have made or what I am eating. Literally he sends me the drooling emojis and has such a fun time with sending those to me. I could tell he was not quite himself; he was definitely too exhausted to tease me properly. Not to mention to show his desire for my homemade cooking.
