It’s Primary Day

Voting can be a very personal decision. It can also be strategical. Who do you want in the job and not want in a specific job or have the title of in this state? Sometimes it’s quite obvious and other times it’s really hard to choose one candidate.

This year feels exactly like all of that.

Unfortunately I voted for Holcomb the first time, but learned some hard truths during the Covid years about the administration. I voted for a Libertarian his second run. Now we have some really good talent that I am excited about. It will be interesting who will be on top this evening when the results come through.

Doden from a Christian perspective sounds wonderful, but Braun is from Jasper. I will never forget the months Grandma Rosie resided at a nursing home there. Amish cooking galore Grandma was fed well. I will also not soon forget sitting at supper time with her and Uncle Tony and the Priest who also resided in the home. It was a Catholic residence and I do remember him being taken by my name. I don’t know why but I relate those memories to Braun, because his name is German. There may be no relation at all, but the actions I have seen him make in the last couple of years I have been a news junkie makes me like him.

Plus there’s Luke Misner running for U.S. Congress. I still think of him as the kid who ran into my home room Mr. Sly’s Anatomy or Biology Class I don’t remember which one. It was Luke who told us to turn on our televisions that the first building had been hit on September 11, 2001.

Then there is Assemblyman Bruce Borders. Back when Grandpa Alsman was still alive, I remember hearing about a conversation they had. For several years apparently on the opposite side of the family his signs have been up in my Grandma Bishop’s yard. My parents and I missed him when he first asked to do so, but Aunt Carol I do remember was there and got to talk to him and some of my other aunts. Yet I almost thought of going with Kellie Streeter for a couple of seconds. Something about girl power, but then I stopped myself, I got the letter for campaigning purposes of course Bruce’s wife wrote to the constituents. It was a very moving letter though. I do know I don’t like what I have heard about Ellington though and didn’t want him to take the position.

So Lord… it’s all in your hands now. Still I feel better this year than I did back in 2020 because I know we are getting a new Governor one way or another and both candidates are better than the current one in my mind.
