On Thursday afternoon we were starting to lick our chops, ready to think about our first food destination. As we had already charged past our ultimate destination in order to go shopping not far away we looked on both sides of the highway. The question was asked what do we want to eat?
The usual suspects, McDonald’s, Burger King, and Wendy’s didn’t sound right for Mom though. It took going through all of the food zone and turning around for us to make a decision. Once Mom saw McAlister’s Deli that was it she had made the decision for us. Dad had never been with us at Terre Haute when we have eaten there twice before so he didn’t know what to expect. He wasn’t sold on the idea of eating at this particular restaurant, but Mom was pretty darn adamant.
The last time I wanted to try the Caesar salad wrap, but ended up getting the New Yorker, which I loved. The layout was different from the location we have been to before. Not only was it more open, but the soft drinks and tea were self-serve which was much nicer.
We got our food and I think everyone was happy but Mom. She was the instigator of the decision too. She couldn’t eat all of her food.

I can’t remember what James got for some reason I guess I wasn’t listening. I do know I got the Chicken Ceasar Wrap, Dad got the Sweet and Smoky Barbecue Chicken and Mom got the Italian Beef. Normally we all love Italian Beefs, but this one, Mom said, was hard for her to eat. It was too tough. So Dad tried it and I don’t really remember him having trouble eating it. Sometimes we tend to have communal food. Mom gives me her pickles, my parents share their food. Then sometimes we all share each other’s food. Plus Mom can only eat so much so she likes to give us her food as we are also eating our own food. Food is supposed to be fun right.

Okay, that’s just another snapshot into our Little Break Away. There’s more to come!
Even though Dad said he liked his sandwich and the potato salad, he didn’t say much about the experience. Mom didn’t eat much so we all knew she would be hungry for supper first…
