Flowers

Until this week I didn’t realize how much Sunflowers were tied to love and weddings. I would never have thought this particular flower should be one to truly think about in my own bouquet or at least in the 3rd wedding Anniversary which may be something I may have to nudge in his direction if he doesn’t seek this information out himself. Still that is somewhere on the horizon and not here yet to really think about right now.

However, a friend of mine is getting married and this will be one of her flowers. Just in glimpsing through the meanings I was caught by the use of purity, love, longevity of marriage. There are some very interesting points of thought in what I have read. Not to also forget the different cultures and even myths that take a similar idea back through Greece, China, the Victorian Language, American Indians, Literature and Religion.

Yet it was God who formed this flower and gave it its color and uses to begin with. Did Eve’s many daughters put sunflowers in their hair for what constituted their wedding ceremonies?

Isn’t it another amazing detail of God’s creation that sunflowers always look to God!
