Our recruitment numbers are eviscerating and show that the American idea of exceptionalism seems to have disappeared. The military brass have been attempting to gaslight Americans using minority groups that don’t love this country to say they do and make it look like they are showing a slight effort to encourage recruitment. Well it’s not working.
It was the young Midwest men, farmers that served this country. Those that held the credence of God, Family, Country and those minority groups don’t hold the same priorities. Recruitment won’t change until people who are trustworthy are at the top of the military, Pentagon and of course the White House. Afghanistan was a slap in the face to every Veteran who served and was actively serving at the time. Why would anyone want to service this narcissistic China-led administration?
Not to mention those who were kicked out over real concerns over the Covid shots. Men and Women who were willing to serve and put their lives on the line were kicked out because of their convictions. Their trust was lost, this administration lost thousands of amazing talented and skilled soldiers, sailors, airmen and all of the branches that were represented. Just imagine if anything like this had happened in World War II!
We lost our final sailor just recently who survived the USS Arizona. Pearl Harbor happened on December 7th 1941 a day my Grandma still remembers. Years ago I had a conversation with her about that day in her home and hearing about the news on the radio in her home kitchen. This man lived to 102 years old, he was a Lieutenant Commander Lou Conter. This is big, this means we have to work twice as hard to remember what his era of Americans went through during World War II for the younger generations to know.
Fortunately for the first time in history, we took advantage of our World War II Veterans and their stories knowing we needed to know what they knew. However, like my Grandpa not all stories are fully known… yet we know so much more about this war because of War Correspondents and because direct descendants started asking questions like my Aunts and my Dad and of course my questions after he died.
“Lieutenant Commander Lou Conter, Last Survivor of the USS Arizona, Passes Away Aged 102.” This write up is by Ward Clark of RedState. It tells his story about being a quartermaster that day of the attack at 7:55 Sunday morning. His daughter and two sons were with him when he died at home in California.
Conter spent a long time in the Navy, 28 years. He was the last survivor from the USS Arizona, but there are still 19 survivors left of the general attack on Pearl Harbor. Ward says, “We would do well to honor them as the heroes they are.”
What do you know about Pearl Harbor? Do you know of any family that was there? Or do you know stories like my Grandma’s?
Each person we lose from this generation is hard. I miss my grandparents every day and the Veterans I interviewed. Their stories are in my mind I have documented them for their families and imprinted them into my heart. This man was a part of the Navy during a much different time from today. Leadership would have learned something from listening to him I am certain. May God Bless his family.
