What was the best compliment you’ve received?

A couple of them do come to mind this morning. One as recent as Saturday afternoon at the Baby Shower. Somehow Mom’s gift which was also mine as well to give was the second gift to open for the Mommy of a new baby boy. She and her husband already have a beautiful little girl and now they will have one of each.

As you all know this year I have been cross-stitch crazy since January. I brought out the Precious Moments books back in January for the first baby shower I went to back in February. I didn’t have names beside the family name for my preachers family. This time I did have little Peter’s name and his big sister’s name Sarah. I also made her a big sisters gift since it was brought to my attention for Ms. Emmy in that first shower.

Anyhow I was so glad I actually had something to put these bath towels in this time. I was only able to hand them over to Rummy and say here are the towels that were promised. This time I had a little more finesse to my presentation.

Once Mommy opened our gift I had purposefully arranged for the towels to be on the bottom of the box. It was the last thing she saw. Her helper as she sat it down I noticed she couldn’t help herself from looking at the personalized towel and saying, ‘how cute’. One more time before getting back to being Mommy’s assistant with all the bags and gifts. Her taking those few seconds more to look at the finished towel really worked on my heart that afternoon. Especially since before our present was opened the preacher’s wife had sown a blanket and after my towels, my goodness you would have thought it was a hobby convention. That dear baby boy got nearly 10 crocheted blankets made with such loving and intricate, experienced hands. I have never seen so many handmade gifts such as blankets and burp rags ever.

There may be more expounded on this later.

I must also mention this couple expecting has recently migrated here from New York. I wonder if they had a baby shower like this for little Sarah back there in the Big Apple? She surely got a wonderful welcome to the family with all of the love that surrounded her among her family and church family in Greene County.
