A Remembrance

Mom must be taking the photo. I decided to throw this in for fun.

Today is March 18th, by this time my Mom and Uncle Tony could only call Grandma. My cousin and her daughter tried to visit for a final goodbye, but it was a rainy day. It was frustrating to say the least for our family when they had promised us time with her knowing without Covid she was already dying.

During that last year I and my Mom and Uncle Tony, and brother James spent many movie nights with her. We would also bring treats. Due to her condition she couldn’t eat very well and she threw up most of what she ate when she did eat. It was one of those nights that came to mind this afternoon.

When I turned Hallmark on the titles caught my attention. Especially the ones that were in the short series called the Detective Mysteries. I remember Grandma having a difficult night and we were actually considering leaving early so she could get some rest. However, after some time… we began to watch the television screen it was one of these movies. They were looking for a recipe that had gone missing.

For a crime movie it was really funny though. Before we realized it Grandma was laughing her head off. We all were. The comedic timing was impeccable and very lightening for the current situation. Her stomach had settled down and seemed in better spirits by the time we had left.

That’s something I really miss… her laughter!
