My Mom and I had to get up awfully early this morning. My uncle’s MRI was scheduled for 8:30 am. This means we all had to be up early. My alarm clock on my phone went off like clockwork at 6:30 am although things didn’t go quite as expected.
After my alarm was silenced I was up and got dressed pretty succinctly and found Mom laying on the couch fully dressed. However, we were still missing one person that was also supposed to be ready and done to pick us up. The plan was for Uncle Tony to come down and pick us up since Dad needed the Lincoln today.
This was the first inkling something was off. We were ready and we hadn’t even heard from him period. When I called he was up, but not ready at all so we ended up having to take the car up to his house to hurry him along at the exact time we were supposed to take off. If things had taken place as they should have we all would have been able to take our pills as scheduled and ate breakfast a bit earlier.
However, we had to quicken his pace which didn’t really work well. I left Mom to help him out and brought the car back down here so they could just pick me up on the way. I was a bit irritated and tired, but we got up early so we would have extra time for this reason specifically. I would like to say this was the only snafu but there was another. I won’t get into it but God was watching over us this early morning.
After everything that happened this morning, eating breakfast finally at 9:30 am once the nearly hour long MRI was over, was simply refreshing. Then we spent some time looking at JoAnn’s, I have been needing to see what they have in stock and if it is any different from Terre Haute’s store. So it was a good time to see the layout. By the time we ended up back home Dad and my brother were heading up towards Indy to find another work car. In the meantime Grandma Rosie’s sister and brother joined us for dinner. They also beat us to the restaurant Union Station.
It was nice to spend time with Aunt Helen and Uncle Mark considering it’s been nearly 4 years since her death. Okay two things came out of today that made me smile and think of her while I was with her siblings. Firstly, Aunt Helen got Fried Green Tomatoes and she loves the batter that Union Station uses on them, Grandma loved those too. Then Uncle Mark ordered Mushrooms something I don’t normally like personally, but another one of her favorites. It was almost like she was there with us today. Then another cousin came in Judy and we got to converse with her a bit.
Goodness… I was so tired, but it ended up being a good day. Although my Garlic Burger was the last meal brought out, everyone else literally ate while I patiently waited for my dinner. Mom gave me a couple of her fries it worked out well though, since I was afraid of eating too soon after that late breakfast. That burger was well worth the wait too. I loved the garnish on the top of my bun… it also made me think of Mamaw.
