You’re writing your autobiography. What’s your opening sentence?

“There is nothing sweeter in a day than when I can smile from seeing one of God’s Kisses that He allows me to see when one full circle of a story is being fulfilled.”

Sometimes I wonder if anyone else can see the stories I see. Surely I can’t be the only one. Believers all around must be able to see these miraculous, divine happenings yet when I see them and report on them as I love doing it seems as if they go unnoticed. My name if you go back to the original jewel spelling or the other word gem means a rare find. Do I just find the rare finds of life because God chose me to? My name has a very rich heritage in my family because of being named for my Grandpa and then the way he was named. I love that we have this amazing account tied to us.

There is also Grandpa himself. He was a son of Mattie Alsman a Christian woman, a very stubborn and feisty woman so I have been told. Yet it wasn’t until he came back from the Navy and met Rosemary Roberts and married her that he got saved. That took me back a bit when I initially heard this because it didn’t jive with the Grandpa I remembered. I couldn’t think of him not ever being saved in his life. He was always reading and studying for as long as I knew him for Sunday School. Grandpa was always our encouragement for church ministries. I have even seen bulletins where he and my uncles were in plays at Bethel quite often.

He is how I developed this natural affection to pick up on God’s handiwork so easily, although I could say all 4 of my grandparents were amazing influences on our church ministries as children. This may have been more than the question asked for but it seemed relevant this morning.
