Sunday afternoon Dad and I assume all his sisters got a text. A baby would be visiting my Grandma that day. We didn’t get there at the designated time and it was meant to be a strictly family gathering; but we got to see him.
Since my cousin’s wife works where Grandma lives everyone knows and has been expecting this baby. When we got there… Grandma was in the baby zone. She was so excited to see another great-grandchild come into this world. It was like she was trying to memorize all the tiny features of his face while he was sleeping in her arms. She had a look that just needed no explanations pure love and awe.
While our family got to revel in this beautiful new cousin and nephew onlookers were putting two plus two together. It was a special time for us, but these coworkers were let in for a quick look-see while the residents saw through the windows. They will get their own time I suppose. It’s only been a short couple of weeks since his birth. Like I said this was a family call.
The awe and aura of my cousin and his wife was also thick in the room and hard to not feel the love and prayers that have filled this new family generation. He was definitely hard to not stare at the entire time. Even as each of my aunts and uncles circled in and one younger cousin. Unfortunately Selena was with her dad and I didn’t think they would be coming due to the mood swings going on. Anyhow by the grace of a loving God they came in not long before this baby left with our cousins.
What we were really not expecting was my brother bringing another baby with him and Kenny our family friend. So we literally had two babies in the same room for a little bit. It surely took us by surprise. This baby is one of the shiny objects my brother and niece have completely taken to due to certain circumstances. This baby was literally born around my brother’s birthday, the parents leave all their children quite often at my brother’s place. They nearly think the baby is theirs it’s a definite bone of contention and we hold up to prayer.
Honestly, these children have been used as pawns in so many ways. Anytime my brother brings this baby over I simply stay away, yet this Sunday was different. My brother got so close to me holding this 6 month old little girl one of the reasons we don’t have our family time with my niece and something happened. I still don’t know what happened the baby whether Jared just put her on me or she kind of grabbed for me ended up in my arms.
Not really something I was wanting to do this time. I didn’t want to get too close to this baby like we have with her brothers. I have been head-butted and screamed at by her belligerent older brother and it’s one thing after another. I wanted to stay out of the line of fire this time. However, her blue eyes reminded me more of her big sister. She was actually a pleasant and happy little girl for me and smiled and giggled.
These were the last big moments of my Sunday. There were quite a few of them. The day was jam-packed with interesting bits I hadn’t counted on. Welcome to my Sundays!
