Prophylactic Medicine

Yesterday was a beautiful day, Mom and I, even got a walk in. It was a nice warm Monday and it felt like a spring day that we all needed. Right!

However, in the middle of the day I began having some blurring in my eye that usually is a precursor to a migraine. There are rare times that I have this eye problem and not have it go further into a full blown migraine. It takes sleeping through the night to make it go away.

No matter how faint the migraine may be with this I always get flushed and redness is seen. I also feel warm. Drinking some cold water does help at times. The weird thing about this time is that the migraine was fairly non-existent except for the redness. It also reminds me that my migraine pill is at work for me. It was a functional migraine that allowed me to do what I needed to do and not feel as bad as I have felt in the past.

The weird part of this is that today is Tuesday and it happened again the same way. There are a couple of differences . The sun was not out at that time like it was yesterday and I was literally in the middle of putting trash into a fire. So I got pretty close in order to make sure the bags were on or as close to the flame as possible.

Smoke is one of the instigators that can cause my migraines. Again it was like Monday’s blurriness and then more redness than actual migraine. So I am praying I don’t have this happen again tomorrow, but it is nice to know that the medicine has stopped a full blown migraine at least twice because I’m taking it as I should.

Do you have aha moments when you realize you should have had something you didn’t because of a medicine you didn’t have before? Isn’t it amazing to feel the difference? I am so grateful to my Nurse Practitioner for referring me to my Neurologist. It has made such a difference.
