Goodness it’s been at least a decade ago. We took our first ever Bishop family vacation before my brother was officially married. It was the first time we had him and his daughter with us on a family trip. It was surreal and almost didn’t happen… yet it was in God’s will. I was specifically looking for a pair of boots to buy on this trip.
We went to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge for nearly a week. We made half of our dinners in our apartment it was actually really fun. It was difficult to get us all together with all of our different schedules but we did just like Grandpa used to do when we were younger and there were more people to and schedules to work around.
I went back to the store at least twice before buying the pair of boots. I honestly can’t remember if I had saved up mowing money or if this was money from working as a cashier. All I knew was that I really wanted something fun and interchangeable to wear throughout the year.
On our day coming home I put them on. I knew we would be in the car mostly and wanted to get used to them. I had a cute dress on and it just accentuated the boots and vice versa and was ready to get going. Somehow I missed my step going up the steps to the parking lot. I fell going up those steps and bruised and bloodied my knees. It stung bad.
When I got home I found out I had the special that Sunday morning. I was not prepared. However with God’s grace I prepared a song in less than a couple of days one of my favorite songs. After I somewhat recovered from that fall I was able to wear those boots when I performed the song and I wore a long enough skirt to hide my scarred knees. I nailed the performance even though my butterflies were large and enticing enough to force me to screw up.
Now years later I still get compliments from my boyfriend about how good I look in those boots. There is something about having a man complement my Sunday morning outfits and mean what he says.

I didn’t think these boots would last this long. They have made it through several more years than I thought they would. Even with some mold I was able to wash off and time when I didn’t wear these boots at all. I have to be prepared to wear these especially if it’s an all day situation. That is why a Sunday morning and done is usually good for me. It’s because of my dual foot conditions, yet I do like to wear them to change up my outfits.
