Do you remember how Covid felt being watched and having to account for your time and what you were doing to someone from the health department? The mandates that were so conveniently and easily placed on American citizens… Do you remember how belittling that felt?

Last night I just finished a chapter in Jill Eileen Smith’s “Eve”. Two distinct feelings hit me from reading this specific chapter. First though it also reminds me of a show I loved simply because Jim Caviezel was in it, “Person of Interest.” There were many, many times I thought about that Television Series during the Covid years knowing people were watching including the non-elected health bureaucrats.

You don’t think this is the first time in all of history that this has happened though, right? You know that world history is varied I mean look at the Bible it is truly mesmerizing what happened in Genesis. We used to have dinosaurs and giants in the world where did they go? We have dinosaur bones and of course David fought Goliath there were unusual beings roaming this earth at one time. Humans are still somewhat unusual at times when you look at what’s been paraded around on devices today.

Now back to that chapter about Eve and Adam. Well it’s simple! When humans don’t care about their creator, God, and separate from Him bad things matriculate from there. Cain was rejected from his family and home just like his parents had been rejected from the garden of Eden once they ate from the fruit of the Tree of Life. He had a heart problem and wouldn’t obey His creator he wanted to take matters into his own hands. In doing so he created a city. He could no longer toil in the soil, because God had taken that gift away from him for killing his brother. So instead he was inconsolable and never felt at peace.

Cain had to build walls and nothing was ever enough for his ambition. The serpent didn’t just give up on his plan back in the garden. He and his unseen demons and fallen angels were still very much waiting for the right human to latch on to and use. Cain’s city was perfect for this group to wreak havoc. As I read this chapter everything about it brought about things I have heard or read from Russia’s Communist State to Nazi Germany. What really brought shivers down my back was the fact that I had felt the very same way not very long ago here in America. The first time this happened was less than 200 years after the creation of the world.

Talk about nothing new under the sun. Communism in it’s barest form happened in Genesis in less than 10 chapters of the Bible along with the creation of slavery. This is what happens in a lawless society without God. Sin grabs a hold of you and doesn’t let go.

The second part of this besides the surveillance and feeling restricted by sin is what Eve’s last sentence in that chapter said. What struck me; is that it was very similar to something I just experienced on my birthday last month.

A situation that has been soul-wrenching to watch and not be able to do much about. Prayer is really it and being available to make sure my niece will always have access to church when she wants to come. Eve met Lucifer before God turned him into a ground-hugging serpent. I can very much imagine that she never forgot the eyes of this deceitful menace.

On the night before my birthday it’s hard to describe what exactly took place. Influence can be seen in a person’s character whether they are headed in a good direction or bad. Some parents and stepparents have difficult jobs, but they work gracefully with the tools God has given them. My niece has a lot of people who want to be around her and our time keeps getting sliced and diced up further. Yet only my family is trying to see to her spiritual and emotional needs. It is lacking when none of her parents or stepparents care to actually go to church.

Anyhow with all of this going on knowing that Saturday was my birthday and we were going out she was being told it was all clear to invite girls over for the night. It was not all clear and we said as much, but she wasn’t listening to me or to Grandma. When something sparkly gets in her or her dad’s eyes there’s no more talk of anything else. So on my birthday she wanted me to be happy for this sparkly moment of hers and I couldn’t and I didn’t mince words. There have been times though when others have taken control of her phone and it feels like a different person. It has been another person, my feelings have been correct so when I saw the next message to come on my phone it threw me.

She had given her phone to someone else in the house. When I saw this message it was like Eve felt pure evil. I actually told my mom I felt like the devil himself had sent that message and was hissing at me. It really shook me. This person has been able to alter our routine with my niece since late last summer. Every time I go to visit my Grandma our little cousin would wonder where she was. Each time I had to say well there were some kids at the house and she had to stay with them it broke my heart. These two girls have always had each other around on Sunday afternoons at Grandma’s and now she thought my niece didn’t like her anymore. That tore at me immensely. Those two girls are like two little peas on a pod.

One decision made in haste can ruin a life. Whether in haste or not do you think Cain made the decision to kill Cain quickly or did it take a while to gain the moxie he needed to do that to his own younger brother.

All of this because of sparkly things or things all about me. Isn’t that what Cain’s trouble was he was jealous of Abel. Cain’s city of surveillance and hooking up with the demons from the unseen realm allowing his own blood to mix with these things all came to this horrifying alternate reality to the one he could have still been a part of with his parents and siblings. His sin kept multiplying until he didn’t even care that his own daughters or probably granddaughters were tainted by the demons. He threw the fairest of his family down the river and deserted them.

The unseen realm, the demons were also called the watchers. In recent days we could add our state health officials and even that man they call Fauci. They watched as they told us one thing and then decided no it’s this way. Yet if you do either wrong you lose your job.
