Jewells of Thought

Music stays with me. Especially when in high school we went over these songs time and time again. Not just to practice but to perform for basketball and football games. As much as I never felt athletic personally, i was a Bulldog. Our school pride was important to morale. Pep Band was also crucial to that idea.

Tonight while driving a blast from the past came on the radio. I have heard it since graduation I am certain, but it’s been a while since the last time. One of those melodies that had to be ingrained in our fingers as well as our minds was the song ‘The Final Countdown.’ The rhythms are still in my fingers and my mind.

The memories of sitting in those bleachers whether basketball or football are a bit more hazy though. The songs are still in my memory though and sometimes really hit me like this song did. Of course in Pep Band we did the quick version of these songs about 30 seconds worth of music sometimes. We packed a punch in those songs you could the melody and we certainly had our favorites.
