My Surprise Project

Since January I have been formulating ideas for not only a baby girl, but for my Preacher’s family. I didn’t get them all finished but the baby is not due for a little while which gives me a little bit of time. Some distractions didn’t allow me to finish in the time-frame I could very easily have done so in.

Last night was the baby shower. I felt guilty not having everything finished, but I did have the musical piece done. So I was thrilled to be able to see the expectant mother open that portion of the gift. Especially when she read the pillow without any troubles. Others when I showed them had troubles seeing the words, mostly my aunts Sunday as I had just finished it Saturday night. They are always telling me I must have amazing eyesight to do this and they don’t. So I was warmed that the alphabet I used for that sentence was seeable.

This scene I used is a favorite of mine. I mentioned it last year in another article. As a musician and Christian this Peanut’s scene is popular. I have tried to change it up in little ways, but it’s difficult to change the colors when that’s Peanut’s originality it would change it too much. The musical notes are really the only thing I changed this time in order to have enough space for the wording at the top.

Yes I have the pillow leaning on a cooled iron. After I am done with the cross-stitch I turn the pillow inside out to iron on some adhesive that keeps the thread on the back in place and tight. Another one of Aunt Mary’s little nick-knacks she showed us.

Can you see the transparent paper against the pillow?

There are still a couple of pieces I didn’t finish as I said. So I will be working on them and should be done in less than a week if no other distractions arise. They will be bath towels. I have several books of Precious Moments. I am enjoying doing some of the artwork I have not yet made for this baby girl. This is what I love about having this as my hobby all of the fun and seeing the smile of the one opening the gift.

By the way, the paper in the first photo came from Grandma’s house. It was in the dresser in the front bedroom for years. The dresser is now in my room and this baby wrapping paper was so cute I finally had a reason to use a portion of it. I heard my cousin say, as the Preacher’s wife was opening it, that she loved the paper. I didn’t get a chance to tell anyone where it came from last night. The paper says, “A Baby is a blessing,” “A gift from heaven above,” “To Cherish and to love.”
