Dining Out… Memories

A couple of weeks ago we introduced my Dad to Cackleberries in Terre Haute. He hadn’t been there since it had been Chicago’s Pizza. That seems like a lifetime ago. It’s a fun name though isn’t it for a restaurant.

So we have now hooked Dad to this restaurant solely based on their Cheddar and Broccoli soup. It’s really good. He got some again today as you can see.

Like I said, this location used to be a favorite pizza place for us in Terre Haute. I have memories of Grandpa Freddy taking all of our family there after Grandma Rosemary’s Mom had been in one of the hospitals up there. I remember deep dish being a favorite type of pizza my Grandparents and Mom loved. That time seems so long ago, but the little memories are still sweet.

There are big differences the restaurant has changed since then. The booths that used to have high enclosures are now gone. Everyone can see everyone. I kind of miss that idea of being in your own little booth. However, I don’t remember the busy atmosphere the place has now.

I usually stick to the Gyro platter cause it’s amazing, but today I changed a little bit. I got the Greek Style Ribs. Not a bad second favorite dish for me here. Maybe one day I’ll get crazy and try something not Greek. I got a Greek Salad and amazing potatoes with oregano plus broccoli.

Sometimes it’s really hard to hate food.
