Birthday Wishes

My brothers and I all have these albums mine has a lot of Kindergarten Certificates!

Wishing on candles never did quite work out as they do in the movies for me, at least. As a little girl though, it was so much fun to do. My parents did throw in one year the candles that don’t blow out as easily one time.

God doesn’t work in wishes though does He?

A Birthday as a Christian means believing in Christ for our strength and comfort daily. God gives us the goodness in our lives. God is not a Genie in a bottle that gives us our 3 wishes. The Devotional I was blessed to be a part of with the discussion was eye-opening in many ways. Without Christ or Christmas would people have any light in their lives? Wishing doesn’t change your present circumstances like prayer does!

Prayers are more substantial than wishes!

Growing up it was instilled us from church to pray intently. The War Room a Christian-produced movie reinforced this idea of praying specifically and in your prayer closet. I remember at Fellowship we had a Woman’s Bible Study based on that very movie. It was an important and crucial experience for all of us who attended those studies.

How many times have I heard my grandparents say we were in their prayers? I have also prayed extensively over my family and my future husband. I am nearly caught off guard at how much Bryan complements my insecurities. or how we constantly and lovingly challenge each other in ways that make us better together. Today thinking about our exchanges this week reminds me of all those prayers for my future love that have been drawing us together these past nearly 3 years.

I did not wish for this man to come into my life. I prayed for the man who would be in God’s will for me. I never thought God would give me a businessman born and bred in New England stature and who has a thick accent sounding rather Australian-esque to me. He feels like… my home.

This does not come from a willy nilly wish on a candle. The Lord has granted me favor in my prayer requests over the years. Thank You Lord, for guiding the two of us together in your timing.

This photo was when we lived in our trailer. Dad made this rocking horse. That little trailer gave us some of the most incredible childhood memories. I am so styling here right? I don’t know where I got those pants
