Martin Luther King Day

This is a day meant for reflection of this man’s life. Growing up I did think of this day as a Birthday present for myself. It has been on my birthday and around it most years. I enjoyed the days off from school.

Dr. King’s “I have A Dream” speech has been ruminated ever since the day he spoke those words. I just wonder what he would have thought of Letitia James and Fani Willis. What would he have thought about them doing with their political adversaries?

There’s so much to think about. This man was on the front lines of segregation and yet here we are with DEI. All of his hard work in this country… and now these three letters have brought us back 50 years plus back to segregating into nationalities and colors… tribes. He believed this country would one day see past skin colors and we were there and are there except for the few trying to divide in order to conquer.

He believed in Americans being able to reach past our biases and coming together. That was possible because of him and others like him. We reached that goal how on earth did Barak Obama get elected otherwise? The sad part of these glass ceilings being broken is that the first woman Vice President doesn’t do her homework and is unrelatable with these ridiculous word salads.

Can we agree before we have a woman President she needs to be far more superior in intelligence than Kamala Harris? Someone with humility and grace as well as confidence in her abilities as a woman firstly and as a leader second. Although there are many Republicans I could name that would be better; I don’t see this happening until 2028 though.

MLK Day is meant to remind us of the past sufferings of generations. Also though the hope of what has transpired. Look around our country who are the Governors and Mayors what colors do you see across the 50 states? Virginia’s recent election for Lt. Governor would make MLK proud I think. Perhaps someone similar to the Lt. Governor for the glass ceiling of the first woman president would be encouraging. She is a Marine among other titles.

Take time to remember Dr. King and what he really stood for and wanted for this great country… to be colorblind.
